From your first stroke to your last, expect your paddling adventure in the tropical waters around Miavana to be unlike any other you have experienced. Quite simply, it is unrivalled. Your adventure begins enroute to Madagascar – remote and wild – it’s the enigma of Africa and a truly exotic travel destination. Access to Miavana is only via helicopter, on what has to be one of the most scenic ‘airport transfers’ on earth. Touching down on its private shores, you can hardly believe that this magnificent Robinson Crusoe-type island exists.
Located in a secluded archipelago within a marine protected area, it is a remote island sanctuary at the ends of the earth. Stepping onto the island is like stepping into a dream. The excitement continues as you take your first stroke in new waters, knowing that virtually no-one has paddled the route you are about to embark on. The paddle routes and downwinds around Miavana are exceptional, yet remain mostly unchartered. Expect to discover new routes with your guides, the Mocke brothers. When combined with the week you will spend nights wild camping followed by your last nights on Miavana, it is a modern-day adventure which cannot be replicated.
Day 1: Arrive Nosy Be and heli transfer to Miavana, located off the North East coast of Madagascar. Your trip starts with an afternoon exploring the island’s activities as well as paddling the tropical waters of Nosy Ankao.

It’s a 3-day downwind paddle along a remote and untouched coastline, where we will be camping on deserted beaches and headlands, surrounded by the raw beauty of Madagascar’s coast.
Day 5: On day 5 we will surf ski downwind (North) to end on Miavana, approximately 25km. Arriving on the island again to enjoy the luxury of Miavana’s villas, dining and activities.
